DES MOINES, Iowa (KTIV) - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announces she will visit Winterset, Iowa Sunday to look at the storm damage.

At Least Three Thunderstorms Produced Tornadoes

The National Weather Service in Des Moines said at least three thunderstorms produced tornadoes, with the exact number still unknown. An initial look at photos and video from Madison County indicated at least EF-3 damage. An EF-3 tornado has winds between 136 and 135 mph.

Six Dead, Four Injured in Madison County

At least 25 to 30 homes were severely damaged, Ayala told The Weather Channel in an interview Sunday morning.

Damage Stretched Across the Region

Damage also stretched into Polk County, where the capital city of Des Moines is located. Several homes were damaged in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, a suburb of the city. The Polk County Sheriff's Office said two people were injured there.

That tornado moved northeastward across Interstate-35. Downed trees and damage was also seen in the Norwalk area, just south of Des Moines.
